Update to Surveys in Simple Poll

Simple Poll will be removing the legacy Surveys feature starting on October 1, 2024. This retirement will affect users who have sent a survey in the past, or have recurring surveys scheduled. After October 1, you will no longer be able to create new surveys using the legacy feature found in the App Home page of Slack. You will have access to data from past surveys until December 31, 2024. If you have any recurring surveys set up, be sure to move them to the new Surveys function (formerly called Multi Question Polls) in the poll pop up before December 31.

What is the legacy Surveys feature?

In October 2023 we released the ability to add multiple questions to your poll in the poll creation modal, which pops up after typing /poll into a Slack channel. Before then, the only way to ask multiple questions was with the Surveys feature found in Simple Poll's App Home page.

Since October, we have made continuous improvements to our poll creation tools to support multiple questions. With these improvements, we are now sunsetting the old method of creating surveys.

Who's affected?

All users who have sent a survey in the past, or have upcoming surveys scheduled in the Advanced Surveys page of Simple Poll's App Home page should take note of this change. In-app messaging will guide you to the new Surveys feature in the poll creation modal.

If you have never sent a survey using the Advanced Surveys page, this feature has already been removed for you. To create a survey, use the /poll command in Slack to open the poll creation modal, and click the green "Make a survey" button to add multiple questions (Premium subscribers only).

What's next?

Starting October 1, 2024, we will no longer support the creation of new surveys using the Advanced Surveys feature found in Simple Poll's App Home page.

If you sent a survey in the past, you will be able to access the results from the survey(s) from Simple Poll's App home page until December 31, 2024. After that date, the Surveys tab of the App Home page will be removed.

Why is Surveys changing?

We launched Surveys in August 2020 and since then, we've made many improvements to the way that polls are created using the /poll command. With the poll modal pop up, creators have more question types and more tools to encourage engagement and response rates - plus, it's easier to create in the poll modal. In October 2023, we released Multi Question Polls which is now replacing the legacy Survey feature. We know from our data that the majority of users looking to create two or more questions are now using the new method, instead of the legacy Surveys feature.

Do I need to take action?

For most users, there is no action necessary for you. If you have scheduled and/or recurring surveys set up in the Surveys page of Simple Poll's app home, please recreate these surveys using the following steps: https://help.simplepoll.rocks/article/130-how-to-create-a-multi-question-poll
